NI Water switches on £2.3m of hydro turbines at three sites
Turbines at Ballygomartin, Breda and Purdysburn will generate about 900 MWh a year from water already moving through the network. Surplus power is exported to the grid.

Portsmouth Water is partnering with Lightsonic to use distributed acoustic sensing on Openreach's Full Fibre network. Lightsonic says the system can locate leaks to within 10 metres; rollout starts in December.

The second Water Efficiency Lab is targeting leaks inside homes and businesses, estimated at 1–1.5 billion litres a day across England and Wales. Awards range from £150,000 to £1.5m.
